When looking to sell your products on Amazon, you may potentially encounter issues where copycats try to misuse and mimic your branding.
Fortunately, for business owners who have invested time and energy into developing their own unique branding, Amazon provides a service called the ‘Amazon Brand Registry’ to protect trade marks on their platform.
To be eligible to register your brand on this brand registry, you must have a registered trade mark in each country within which you would like your trade mark protected. It is important to note that your trade mark application can’t be pending or under examination – it must have completed the examination process and achieved registration.
Your trade mark must also include text of some kind, either as a plain text trade mark application or a composite trade mark including both images and words.
You must also have an Amazon Vendor or Seller account to be able to register on the Amazon Brand Registry.
By registering your brand with Amazon Brand Registry, you are provided with tools to monitor your brand on Amazon, given greater control over your listing content, and have greater access to internal teams that can assist with submitting and escalating any trade mark infringement claims.
