Trade mark registration in Canada
At present, if you wish to file an application in Canada, it’s necessary to engage a trade mark agent in Canada to file direct into the Canadian Trade Marks Office.
We work with attorneys in Canada so can oversee the whole process from application through to registration.
From 17 June 2019, Canada is joining the Madrid Protocol (WIPO) so it will then be possible to designate Canada in the filing of one international application.
If you’ve already filed an international application through WIPO, after 17 June 2019, you may have the option to file a “subsequent designation” for Canada. By filing a subsequent designation, you may be able to supplement your original Madrid Protocol registration with a new designation for Canada.
