Once an international application has been filed, it undergoes a formalities examination at the International Bureau. It then undergoes examination in each country you have designated.
Notification of the international trade mark is distributed to each of the IP offices for the country’s you have designated and a thorough examination is undertaken based on the law for each country. Examination is carried out within 12-18 months of filing the international application.
Once the application has been examined in each designated country, you will receive notification from the International Bureau. This will either be confirmation that your trade mark has been accepted, or objections could be raised against your trade mark, in which case you will receive a Provisional Refusal.
